Greetings!
This past week has been exciting and inspiring—I’m finally back to writing after a long hiatus. Life has been full of transitions, wrapping up a career that spanned over 30 years and slowly transitioning through the loss of my mother.
These past months have been a whirlwind of emotions, and as I step into this next chapter, I’m reminded of the simple practices that help me stay centered, even when life feels anything but steady. And with spring right around the corner? I couldn’t be more excited.
This season of renewal is the perfect time to embrace mindfulness and grounding practices. One simple yet powerful method to bring yourself into the present moment is the 5-4-3-2-1 technique.
A Simple Reset: The 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique 🌿
If you’re feeling overwhelmed, anxious, or simply in need of a moment of calm, try this:
1️. Five things you can see (the light hitting your coffee mug, the book on your nightstand)
2️. Four things you can touch (the softness of a sweater, the coolness of your desk)
3️. Three things you can hear (birds chirping, distant laughter)
4️. Two things you can smell (fresh coffee, a hint of spring in the air)
5️. One thing you can taste (a sip of tea, a breath of crisp morning air)
This simple exercise pulls you into the present, quiets the mind, and brings you back to your breath—back to now.

I absolutely loved the 5-4-3-2-1 Grounding Technique! As a stay-at-home mum of three little ones, I can definitely feel overwhelmed, especially with how many “mummy”s I hear in a single minute 😅! Definitely giving this a try.
A wonderful reminder to always return to our breath when life throws us stressful moments.
Living mindfully is a habit we can all master. But hard to always do with our lives often on speed dial.
Sorry to read about your loss, Lis. Sending cyber hugs across the stack waves 💕
