A Mother’s Wish: You Are Enough
A poem for the soul—honoring self through transition, loss, and rediscovery.
(This reflection is part of my ongoing series: Savoring Life at 59 — exploring freedom, rediscovery, and meaning beyond roles.) #3
May there be
Open waters caressing joyous spirits
Sunshine dancing within your heart
Soul-filled lyrics rising
from the deepest parts of you
Passions aflame
Forever seeking
Truth, and justice, and peace
Riding on wings of knowing
Your gifts are to be shared
And offered
Willingly, without reservation
Gracefully and wholly
Whenever and however
Possible, always knowing
You are enough
Today, tomorrow, always
And that—
Being kind is always more important
Than being right
And discovering self is the nourishing guide
toward truly seeing others
And when life challenges you
In ways that feel immeasurable and devastating—
You can rise again
To a new day
And find another way
To venture forth
And rewrite the pages of your journey
To fill the deep chasm that has arisen
From pain and suffering
Earning another precious tool
Within the ever-growing survival kit
Leading you toward light,
And love, and belonging
In a world that can be cruel, and unforgiving,
And ferocious to the bone—
But then you already know that
And can find solace in the wisdom
That it’s not the challenges that define us,
But the discovery of our own truths amidst the storm
Ultimately carrying us
toward our most gentle
And beloved selves
Floating on wings of:
Compassion
Joy
Empathy
And Grace
With
light and love continually flowing toward you—
Forever circling
Cradling
Honoring
All the pathways traveled and endured,
And savored
Within your life’s journey.

This is so beautiful! Thank you Lis for writing this which deeply resonated with me and will resonate with so many more, navigating loss, grief & transitions: Sometimes you need someone else on the outside to put your pain into words and give you hope. 🙏🏽
