🌿 The Writer’s Oasis — Week 2
Reflection. Prompt. Getting to Know Each Other. In Under 3 Minutes. A Weekly Space to Pause, Reflect, and Refuel Your Writing Spirit
A quiet space to refill your creative well
Dear Writers,
That’s why I’ve created The Writer’s Oasis — a quiet, nourishing corner of Substack where we can refill our creative wells, share encouragement, and step into the week with inspiration in hand.
As part of my Savor Life Studio journey, I wanted to carve out a space where writers can feel supported—where we can connect, grow, and remember we’re not in this alone. Everyone is welcome here!
✨ A Reflection
This past week, I’ve been rereading Bird by Bird by Anne Lamott and enjoyed this passage:
“Almost all good writing begins with terrible first efforts. You need to start somewhere. Start by getting something—anything—down on paper. A friend of mine says that the first draft is the down draft—you just get it down. The second draft is the up draft—you fix it up. You try to say what you have to say more accurately. And the third draft is the dental draft, where you check every tooth, to see if it’s loose or cramped or decayed or even, God help us, healthy.”
What a great reminder:
Writing takes time.
And patience.
And perseverance.
Sometimes, we have to follow the flow—let the words take us where they wish to go. More often than not, they’ll land in a place of comfort, if we give them the space to do so.
🌸 Prompt of the Week
What’s one sentence about something you enjoy and savor about springtime?
Your submissions will be gathered into a community poem and featured in next week’s newsletter!
Take a quiet moment to reflect on what this season brings to your heart:
A scent that reminds you of new beginnings
A sound that stirs joy or nostalgia
A small ritual that welcomes the shift in season
A burst of color that makes you pause and smile
Reply with one sentence, and I’ll gently weave our words together into a shared celebration of spring. Let’s create something beautiful together.
🌟 Thank You, Week 1 Writers!
A big shout-out to everyone who participated in last week’s activity — it was truly lovely to read each of your reflections from the following prompt:
A moment that still lingers in your heart
Something simple but meaningful
A turning point or a quiet, everyday experience
I hope these mindful moments can serve as gentle writing starters or simply spark something meaningful in your creative life—use them in whatever way feels most helpful to you.
